Aerator,
Pond Aerators
Use a pond aerator as a choice to oxygenate your
pond. Proper aeration is vital to having a healthy
pond, water garden or lake no matter what time of year it is. Use a
pond aerator during hot weather to provide the necessary oxygen within the
pond. Use a pond aerator during the winter to not only provide oxygen
to the pond (and fish within it) but to also provide water movement at the
surface to keep an area of the top of the pond from freezing. This
opening in the ice allows for fresh oxygen to enter and an exit hole for
toxic gases from decomposing organic matter in the pond to escape.
Choose
the best aerator suited for your pond's needs below. In addition to a proper size
aerator, every pond needs beneficial bacteria to break down organic matter within the pond
such as organic matter from decaying leaves, fish wastes, etc. Every established pond already has beneficial
bacteria but benefits from adding more. For large ponds use our
PlanktoniX™
product and for small ponds use our Microbe Lift
product. Both products are totally natural products and are completely safe for
swimming, fish, wild life, etc. They are not chemicals but natural biological
strains of good types of bacteria that are responsible for reducing algae and breaking
down organic matter. They also break down toxic ammonia from fish wastes into
harmless nitrates. You can find both of them here. By having
a proper size aerator and adding beneficial bacteria, your pond will be much healthier,
clearer, oxygenated and more enjoyable to you.)

between Fountain type of aerators (referred to as water fountains) and Diffused Aeration
Systems. The fountain aerators are a popular choice when a decorative aerator is
desired. Fountains splash the surface of the pond and help control surface algae and
duckweed, but do not aerate down to the bottom in deep ponds (we have a fountain aerator
for ponds as shallow as 17" right here
besides other fountain aerators here).
Diffused aeration is the best way to go with deep ponds because the air diffuser lays on
the bottom and you achieve total pond aeration from the bottom to the top regardless of
depth. Oxygen then dissipates throughout the pond. They are also ideal for
shallow ponds (use our High Volume Surface Aerator for shallow ponds ) as once again, they
provide total aeration throughout the pond and are also much more economical to run as it
takes less energy to push air in a diffused aeration system than it does to push water
through fountains (or pumps, for that matter). To find the comparison in electricity

Diffuser type of Aerators

Linear Compressors - Extremely
energy efficient, silent and reliable compressors. Low pressure capability prohibits
use in deep applications, but these pumps are great for shallow (less than 6-8') ponds,
tanks, aquariums and many other applications.
Diaphragm Compressor - High
pressure, low volume compressors widely used for deep pond aeration and destratification.
Rotary Vane Compressors - Medium
volume, medium pressure compressors ideal for aeration of larger ponds and lakes less than
18' deep.
Rocking Piston Compressors -
Provide slightly higher pressure than rotary vane compressors. Ideal for aeration of
ponds/lakes up to 40' deep.
Piston Compressor - High pressure
compressors for aeration, destratification and de-icing of waters up to 75' deep.

| The following items are different diffused
aeration kits. Diffused aeration systems are the best way to aerate,
de-stratify and create circulation in ponds over 6' deep. Each system has
3 basic parts: an air compressor (motor), an air hose and an air
diffuser where the
bubbles come out of). The air compressor (or windmill) sits on the shore and pumps
air through the hose to the air diffuser located on the bottom of the pond. The
results is thousands of tiny bubbles rushing out the diffuser to the pond surface,
creating oxygenation and aeration throughout your pond. There are several
advantages to using diffused aeration kits instead of surface aerator:
1) Electric motor is on shore, not in the water.
2) Air diffusers lay on the bottom, ensuring aeration of entire pond from bottom to
top, regardless of depth, and
3) With proper size tubing, hose lengths of up to 2,000' can be achieved for ponds without
electricity nearby.
All motors are designed for continuous duty operation and are oil-less for low
maintenance. Periodic cleaning of air filter and replacement of diaphragm and gasket
every few years is all that is necessary. Air stones can be cleaned (if necessary)
in muriatic acid to restore like-new performance. Kits include everything needed for
installation and operation except for tubing weights. Tubing is buoyant and requires
a 5# weight every 6-8' to sink, or use optional self-weighted tubing. Diffused
aerators are for ponds at least 6' deep, if not deeper. High volume surface aerators
are used for large ponds that are shallower than 6' deep.

How do you install it?
It's super easy to install! Simply follow the steps below.
1. Locate compressor on shoreline where your 110
volt electricity is located.
2. Connect the air tubing to the compressor using a hose clamp.
3. Attach the other end of the air tubing to the diffuser with another
hose clamp.
4. Fill the diffuser base with sand or gravel.
5. Lower air diffuser in pond within a couple of feet from the
deepest, most centrally located
section of the pond.
6. Plug compressor into 110 volt electricity.
7. That's it! You're all done! Let it run 24 hours a day,
365 days a year!

| Rotary Vane Air
Compressors
These rotary vane air compressor kits pump considerably more air than the diaphragm pumps
shown above. Rotary vane pumps do not operate as deep as the diaphragm pumps -
maximum operating depth is 18'. A 3/4HP high pressure model is available which
operates to a depth of 27'. The 1/4HP model pumps 4.2 CFM of air compared to 1.5CFM
with the 1/4HP diaphragm compressor. This larger volume of air will increase
circulation and oxygen levels for faster cleaning of the pond's bottom. The
1/4HP rotary vane kit is recommended for ponds from 1 to 2 acres, but it often is used in
ponds less than 1 acre if high fish population, exceptionally poor water conditions, or
heavy nutrient build-up exists. The 3/4 HP models are recommended for ponds 2-4
acres in size. For ponds larger than 3 acres, the 1HP kit is used or multiple
aeration systems may be needed. Please
inquire about the aeration system required for your size of pond. Include depth,
size and shape of pond, water conditions and fish population.

Wind Powered Aerator
Let Mother Nature help aerate, circulate and de-stratify your pond! Our redesigned
and improved windmill is an ideal way to supplement oxygen levels and improve the overall
health of a pond. Ideal for areas needing aeration without electricity nearby.
Windmill can be located hundreds of feed from the pond's edge, if necessary, to
catch more wind.
- Made from heavy-duty galvanized steel - will last for 15+ years
- Only requires 5mph of wind to operate, self brakes at 28 mph.
- 64" diameter head with 12 blades. Pumps 1.5 CFM of air.
- No annual maintenance except diaphragm replacement as needed (usually
1-2 years) and minimal greasing.

All three sizes of windmills use the same blade assembly. Therefore, the amount
of air pumped is the same. The taller towers are recommended where additional height
is needed to catch sufficient wind currents.

Self Weighted PVC Tubing
Our new thick wall PVC tubing is available in 5/8" and 3/4" sizes and is
virtually kink-proof! Thick wall pipe is extremely durable and contains no lead.
Ideal for use with larger rotary vane compressors for lake aeration (our SCPA33,
SCPA50, SCPA75, SCPA75HP, SCPA100).NOTE:
If you are using either our SCPA33, SCPA50, SCPA75, SCPA75HP or SCPA100 aeration
systems and are pushing air less than 500' total length from the compressor then
you should use the SCL6 below or our SCL5 listed above. If you are pushing air over
500' total length from the compressor then you should use our SCL7 tubing below.
Also, adding extra tubing on to an already existing set up may decrease the air
pressure in the tubing furthest from the compressor. This is because it takes a certain
amount of air pressure (CFM) to push air a certain distance. What you may need to do
is reduce the length of the poly tubing (that comes with our aeration kits) prior to
adding the extra weighted tubing.
