Beneficial pond bacteria is vital to having a healthy pond. It's as important as the air you and I breathe. Every pond needs to have it.
Good types of pond bacteria does many important things. It decomposes fish and organic wastes into useful chemicals in the pond. This means that all the carbon dioxide, feces and urine from fish are broken down by beneficial pond bacteria. It also means that all the organic matter like fallen leaves, uneaten fish food, dead pond plants and weeds, silt, muck, sludge - everything organic - needs beneficial pond bacteria to break it down.
If you don't have enough beneficial bacteria in your pond, your fish will suffer and die - and may do so very, very quickly. If you don't have enough beneficial bacteria for the amount of wastes you have in your pond, your water can turn a nasty color of green, stink and be very unhealthy.
Beneficial pond bacteria is absolutely vital to having a healthy pond. For ponds less than 50' x 50' in size, we recommend our Microbe Lift. For those ponds and lakes larger than 50' x 50' in size, we recommend our PlanktoniX.
